It was about a week after Mi-mi found the poems and song written for her by Leon [unknown to him, of course] when the two went out on a casual stroll through the sunset-lit meadows of Destination Unknown. There was only the sound of the grass dancing in the warm evening breeze, and the water smashing against the cliffs' bottom, which, for Mi-mi, made things a bit awkward. This, however, was not something new. Things with Leon always tended to get awkward because he never really talked much other than a bit of forced chit-chat here and there.
Once the sun was slowly melting into the ocean, both of them stopped and stared out beyond the sea, with no movent or sound. The sky was a beautiful golden orange with a dash of purple here and there. The great horned kampoof birds could be seen flying in the distance towards the nafargala trees, ready to roost for the night, no doubt. Things seemed to be in perfect order and peace now, something that rarely happened.
Leon's eyes were set on the horrizon, though Mi-mi was beginning to turn her attention towards him.
"So…" She said nervously, breaking the silence. Leon turned only his eyes to her.
"So," She repeated "I was in your lab a few days ago…"
Leon jerked his head and glared at her. "You know you are not allowed in there when I am not!" He exclaimed more nervously than usual.
He never allowed anyone into his lab without him being there. It was because there was a secret room no one but Epiphany, Leon and Mi-mi knew about. [Mi-mi found out because of her curiosity one day] He was terrified of people knowing of his past and denied anyone access into his territory.
Mi-mi stepped back "I know…But there is more…" Her face was redder than a cherry when she slowly reached into her back pocket. Leon crossed his arms but gave away a sign of interest through his expression.
"..I f-found this…" She turned her head away and held out a crumpled piece of paper.
Leon's eyes widened and his mouth gaped open. He already knew what the content of the paper was without her saying a word. It was one of the poems he wrote about Mi-mi a month back.
Quickly he snatched the paper and stepped back. He was sweating, stuttering, and shaking uncontrollably.
"YOU! YOU WENT INTO MY ROOM!?" He cried out. "How dare you! You-! I can explain this! It- it is-!I wrote this when-! I swear it's just-!" He was stumbling on his words and couldn't explain himself. He was caught! Now, he was stepping backwards a few more times, still searching for some words.
Before he could try to utter another pathetic phrase, Mi-mi pushed forward and kissed him, right on the lips. The blood rushed to his head as he was being pushed back from the force of her lunge. Everything was in a haze then…dizzy and confused, he stared forwards but saw nothing. It was as if he went blind for a few moments.
Her soft pink lips were pressed hard against his own... Her body was close to his. Hands on his shoulders. This is what he wanted, wasn't it? Yes, yes of course it was! It was all he has wanted.
With a small fit of passion, he gently but firmly pulled her closely, deeply kissing her back. The gap between their bodies was now completely filled.
Mi-mi's eyes opened, just slightly. Before her was the man who acted so coldly to her a few days back. She knew he had feelings for her, due to the poems and few gestures of kindness here and there, but he was so good at hiding his true emotion. Till now he seemed to have more of a stoic way about him. She pushed away for a second, smiled so warmly then received his lips once more. It was obvious the feelings they shared were mutually received.
The sun was now fully submerged into the ocean. The sky was a dark orange-red and the breeze had gone away. Mi-mi laid her head against Leon's shoulder as they both sat there, watching each new star pop up. The night was in a perfect hush, no longer an awkward silence.
Surely, this was the beginning of something great.
